Joining An Elite Group Of Court Of Arbitration For Sport (CAS) Arbitrators To SSAC
The Board of Directors of the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center (SSAC) has approved the addition of a distinguished group of experts in sports arbitration—including arbitrators listed with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)—to SSAC’s roster of accredited arbitrators. This step constitutes a qualitative addition aimed at strengthening the sports arbitration ecosystem in the Kingdom and supporting the attraction of outstanding competencies at both the international and regional levels.
The roster includes: Jeffrey G. Benz from the United Kingdom; Benoît Pasquier and Dr. Petra Pocrnic Perica from Switzerland; Sultan bin Nasser Al Suwaidi Bahrain; Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Bouzbar from Kuwait; Salman bin Ahmed Al Ansari from Qatar; Dr. Ismail bin Ahmed Selim and Abdullah bin Abdulmonem Shehata from Egypt; Dr. Shadi Antonios Saad from Lebanon; and Dr. Abdullah bin Misfer Al Hayan from Kuwait, who serves as a member of (ICAS).
Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Bassam, Chairman of SSAC’s Board of Directors, stated that approving the new cohort of arbitrators represents a prominent addition to SSAC’s arbitrator rosters, as it has doubled the number of SSAC-accredited arbitrators who are simultaneously listed with CAS to reach 18 arbitrators. This reflects the expansion and diversity of SSAC’s international arbitration expertise base. This, in turn, contributes to enhancing the quality of the arbitration process, consolidates SSAC’s role as a leading entity in the adjudication of sports-related disputes, and strengthens its presence at both the regional and international levels—keeping pace with the growing development of the sports industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its rising role on the global sports map.
