The Board Of Directors Of The Saudi Sports Arbitration Center Approves The Mechanism For Classifying Arbitrators And Evaluating Their Performance.
The Board of Directors of the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center has adopted a mechanism for classifying and evaluating the performance of arbitrators accredited by the center, in a step aimed at enhancing the quality and efficiency of the arbitration process to keep pace with the rapid developments in the sports sector in the Kingdom.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Center for Sports Arbitration, Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Bassem, explained that the new classification of arbitrators supports the Center's strategic objectives of raising the level of specialization and reliability in resolving sports disputes. Three comprehensive lists have been adopted: a football disputes list comprising arbitrators specializing in and experienced in football disputes; an anti-doping list comprising arbitrators qualified and specialized in doping cases; and a general list, which serves as the primary list and includes all arbitrators accredited by the Center, including those classified under the football and anti-doping lists. Only arbitrators classified under the football list will adjudicate football disputes, while anti-doping disputes will be considered by arbitrators listed under the anti-doping list. This reinforces the principle of specialization and enhances the efficiency of the arbitration process.
Furthermore, the Center's Board of Directors adopted performance evaluation criteria for arbitrators based on precise indicators to measure competence and ensure adherence to professional and institutional standards. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center, Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Bassem, explained that the evaluation results will form the basis for decisions regarding the continuation, suspension, or cancellation of an arbitrator's classification. This will contribute to strengthening institutional arbitration practices and ensuring fairness and transparency in resolving sports disputes.
This step comes within the framework of the Center's ongoing efforts to develop the sports arbitration environment in the Kingdom and enhance its position as the supreme and exclusive authority for adjudicating sports and sports-related disputes, serving the sports sector and supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
